How
you doing? Thanks for dropping by. I saw this car on my way to the
airport in Los Angeles, returning in February from a British Council
Residency at California State University.
But
it's march now and I am back in England. The Olympic Torch Song I wrote
will be sung at The Royal Festival Hall by Lambeth Schools on 28th.
March 24th I'm presenting a documentary called The Black Boy on BBC Radio 4 on at 11am.
On March 13th My Play Something Dark will be published in Hidden Gems by Oberon Books as part of alongside writers such as Lennie James. It’s edited by Deidre Osborne and launched at a conference On Whose Terms Critical Negotiations in Black British Literature at Goldsmiths college.
.I'm judging for the Index on Censorship Freedom of Expression awards 2008. Other judges are Maureen
Freely (writer, academic and translator of Orhan Pamuk), Rabinder Singh
QC (leading human rights lawyer) and Peter Wright (Editor of Mail on
Sunday). The books are coming in this month and the winners will be announced on 21st April.
I've been working on a project called The Long Walk
with genius composer and musician Pete Moser. It is a project by More
Music Morcambe in reaction to the deaths of the Chinese Cocklers and
shall be performed in Liverpool on 13th and 14th March as part of
Liverpools City of Culture. Click here to find out more.
Each seven years I publish one book of poetry so the next called Listener will be out on Canongate in September 08.

APRIL 17th. Duwayne Brooks survived the attack, Stephen Lawrence did
not. Brooks alongside Guardian journalist Simon Hattenstone read from
their book Steve and Me. I shall be reading at this event at The South

RESIDENCY EVENTS: APRIL 25th. Three events on one night called
Bloodshot Monochrome. In the first room is The book launch of Patience
agbabi, with Parliamentary writer in residence Rommi Smith and musical

In the middle The Hub there'll be the DJ Dave Haslam. And on the other
side of The Spirit Level in the second room more excellent poets David
