Hey it’s May, the month of my birthday.   I shall celebrate in South Africa at Badilisha Poetry Festival.

Later on in the month I’ll be in Bracknell,  Bath and  The Hay Literary Festival. See the readings page for details.  There’s a closed event with  Nobel Laureates which should be kinda exciting.

And There’s a couple of things I want to flag up for you, particularly the London Literature Festival where I’ll be showing my documentary film Internal flight and for one night only at The Udderbelly my one man play Why I Don’t Hate White People. Both of these are in July.

Alongside Jacqueline Wilson I am patron of The Letterbox Club and gave the keynote speech at The Booktrust conference this month.  The booktrust administrate The letterbox Club.   You can hear the twenty minute speech  here

Keep a watch on the  BLOG for offline news online or on facebook  My book Listener is in the picture on the left. Click and it shall take you to Amazon where you can read a few of the poems.   I forcast a good long summer that will always be too short. Outside the backdoor the world is coming alive. The picture is taken at a hotel in Sweden.

Bizarre fact:  My birth name is  an original. If you google “Lemn Sissay” the only responses will be about myself
