My birth name is  an original. If you google “Lemn Sissay” the only responses will be about myself

The picture is Gil Scott heron and I in a Times Square hotel where he first said to the nation in my  BBC radio documentary (cast on 21st april 2009, Pieces of A Man),   that he was back with a new album.  This month that album arrives.

I have a pre-release. Mr Heron shall also be performing at my home The Southbank centre in April as part of his European tour.

But of  this month:   I shall be on stage reciting the Ancient Mariner with Bellowhead at The Southbank Centre.  And  I shall be in Northern Ireland.  There's an interesting panel debate  called Know Your Place   and there’ll be a launch of a book  called Red  in which I have a poem.

For the year of 2010   I am doing NO poetry readings of my own work in England. I shall be in other parts of the world but not England.  This month I’m teaching for a week at Arvon for Thrize winners of The Foyle Young Poets Award.

Keep a watch on the  BLOG for offline news online. My book Listener is in the picture on the left. Click and it takes you to Amazon where you can read a few of the poems.  The picture to the right is by Dominique Brewster.
