The Bookclub grift
Meet Jing Morgan, the money hunter. Jing is a sheep in sheep’s clothing, making her money by sending out phishing emails to pick the pockets of writers. It obviously works , so I took the bait of the phisher woman.
It all started innocently. Jing Morgan wants to discuss “My Name is Why” at her book club in Berlin. As I exchanged emails I realised that Jing Morgan does not exist, which means I am warning you not to get involved with someone who is not alive. This is the state we are in.
All the emails are here. The currency Jing Morgan eventually requests is dollars. The majority of online fraud is not from India or Nigeria. The majority of online fraud is American. Trigger Warning: I mention the fictitious car crash and subsequent death of my sister.

Do you think Jing is real? Have you received these messages. I have an agent and a PA but these still come through to me. If you receive what seems like a genuine enquiry look out for requests for money. Watch for requests for information. Remember they wrote to you. They know who you are. Check their email address. And most importantly check if there is an online site with activity and regular input tied to a physical space of some sort.
